A human blink lasts about 0.15 seconds. Within this brief moment, decisive events can occur. Max Brenner’s work focuses on this fleeting instant where perception, movement, and transformation intersect.

The series begins with an image of two crash-test dummies leaning together as if taking a selfie. What first appears humorous hints at the crash around which the narrative unfolds. Through shifts in perspective, scale, and overlapping imagery, Brenner creates dynamic compositions.

Driven by an intuitive process and a “horror vacui” he gathers visual fragments in extensive research “rabbit holes.” A monumental woodcut captures the moment of impact, remaining a sculptural object whose stone-like surface reflects the tension between time, movement, and permanence.
