Very unintelligent work at Kunstraum am Schauplatz connects the photographic series with the exhibition venue in a direct and immediate way. The photographs from the Stall series are presented in a former barn, establishing a direct dialogue with the architectural history of the space. Subject and site overlap: documented agricultural architecture encounters its own transformation into a cultural space.

The photographs are created within a strictly controlled, documentary setting and subsequently edited manually in Photoshop. This deliberate, non-automated form of image manipulation is not intended as optimisation, but as a process of reduction and formal standardisation. The “unintelligent” working process stands in contrast to the contemporary use of artificial intelligence and refers to physical, manual labour—comparable to agricultural work, in which every alteration is the result of human action. The exhibition title refers ironically to this approach while simultaneously drawing on the tradition of New Objectivity. Under the notion of an “Austrian Objectivity,” things are presented in their simplicity, while the claim to objectivity is pushed towards absurdity through serial uniformity and radical reduction—until architecture and image ultimately converge in a strict geometric form.

The Kunstraum am Schauplatz, once part of the farm buildings of Palais Klein, reinforces this conceptual dimension. By presenting the Stall series within this space, the history of the venue itself becomes part of the exhibition, anchoring the work both spatially and conceptually.
