Happening:
Hoffnung, Hope, Espoir, Esperanza
to
The impulse for this group-exhibition emerged from a remark by David Hockney: that art can help counter despair. Art can create hope by freeing itself from conditioned ways of thinking and representation. It surprises, opens new perspectives, and invites reflection, revealing possible paths beyond feelings of helplessness.
The exhibition presents works that express hope from the perspective of the artists who created them. Rather than depicting reality, the works reflect how reality is experienced and how it might be shaped. As Gerhard Richter described it, art becomes an act of “making sense” — a process through which meaning, reflection, and possibility emerge.
