The straitjacket, constructed from fragments of paper and linen, is put on and gradually tightened until physical movement is reduced to a state of inner tension. The work negotiates the precarious balance between artistic self-empowerment and structural pressure, mutual support and self-imposed constraint.
Drawing on Thomas Bernhard’s concept of the Weltkarrierezwangsjacke, the performance reflects on how the desire to live from one’s own art can gradually become a form of compulsion. The collective appears both connected and constrained - bound together within a system it simultaneously depends on, inhabits, critiques, and attempts to challenge.
