Hay Bales is a site-specific intervention in public space that brings agricultural materials, photographic representation, and urban institutions into tension. Three plastic-wrapped hay bales function as mobile, weather-resistant exhibition supports. Their cubic form refers to the Stall series, in which traditional barn structures are digitally reduced to geometric forms.

Each bale presents a documentary photograph of a barn alongside its digitally reduced version, making the transformation from architecture to abstraction visible. The names Brenner–Havelka–Plessl and Kindler, together with the locations, reference authorship and origin while drawing on the visual language of agricultural labelling and advertising. The works are spray-painted using aerosol paint and stencil templates.

Positioned between the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum and Foto Arsenal Wien, the bales mark a threshold between periphery and centre, nature and institution, everyday life and exhibition. They transform the site into a temporary zone of confrontation, material, quiet, and unmistakably present.
