Visitors are confronted with a choice: to take a copy of the newspaper home, or to destroy it, either themselves or together with the artist. The decision becomes part of the work, asking how one chooses to engage with an intense accumulation of artistic material. What is the value of a work that can be taken away, preserved, or destroyed immediately after encountering it?

The immediate destruction of the newspaper becomes a confrontation with the value we assign to art. Once printed, accumulated, and presented as a work, it can just as quickly be shredded, turning an object of artistic value into fragments. Destruction becomes part of the work itself.

But there is no mourning in its destruction. The evening ends with punk band Milde Sorte, dancing, friends, and the simple pleasure of being together. After years of work, Sissi Petutschnigg’s diploma is done. It is finished. It is over. There is nothing left to prove. She can celebrate, dance, and let the work disappear.
