The accompanying series Targets extends Brenner’s exploration of confrontation and power by shifting it into a space of direct interaction. Drawing on the visual language of shooting-range figures, the works position the viewer in an uneasy, participatory role. What is usually meant to be aimed at, tested, or eliminated becomes elevated, monumental, and almost reverential.
