The interdisciplinary work deals with the institutional structures and administrative processes of the University of Applied Arts. Michael F. Plessl’s entire studies as well as his work on his diploma are presented using documents and correspondence and made comprehensible in the form of a publication and installation. The aesthetics consciously follow conceptual art, where graphic design’s inherent interest in the representation of information and art meet. The framing performance connects the places where the work was created and can be seen - the university and its archive.

The combination of two study programs in one diploma creates an event that was previously unthinkable. The work can therefore be understood as an attempt to open up new possibilities — namely to establish a thesis for several degree programs at this university.

This interdisciplinary diploma thesis attempts to demonstrate and question the limits and guidelines of studying art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna by adhering to and fulfilling the specified conditions of the curricula of the Institutes of Design and Fine Arts.
