Brenner’s Alienation is a copper-etching series on Hahnemühle paper based on heavily distorted selfie photographs. Through repeated cycles of re-photographing between smartphone and laptop screens, reflections, screen angles, and changing resolutions gradually deform the original portrait into unfamiliar, almost alien avatars. Transferred onto copper plates and printed through traditional intaglio techniques, the fleeting digital image acquires physical depth and permanence. The square format references social media, reflecting on digital self-representation and the increasing distance between identity, image, and perception.
