Kunstbuch Donnerstag is a regular event series at the mumok dedicated to presenting and discussing artist books in an informal setting. Brenner-Havelka-Plessl present the concept of their artist book, which was added to the Mumok collection in 2024, and raise awareness of its central theme through a talk followed by an open discussion
The book I’m fine!? deals with depression and attempts to make this condition experientially accessible to viewers.
The faces and grimaces in the book are enclosed through a Japanese binding. Bound with surgical thread, the book is treated like a wound—fragile, raw, healing. This binding technique allows the sheets to be printed on only one side before being folded in the middle and bound, placing the distorted faces directly opposite each other.
The art publication is considered the first collaborative work of the art collective Brenner-Havelka-Plessl and marks the starting point for further artistic explorations in the field of mental health.
Multiple demons merge into one, culminating in a symbolic blindness.
